As we grow in the Word, we learn to use it in daily life.  Exercising our "spiritual senses" means applying the Word. This develops discernment that children lack. A baby puts anything into its mouth. An immature believer consumes any teaching without discerning the teacher's faithfulness to the Word.
Grow in your daily understanding and applying the Word and maturity will be the natural by product.
